As food and beverage manufacturers move to meet the new rules and regulations specified by the FDA’s Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA), ingredients labels are just one item under scrutiny. Both consumers and the FDA are calling for greater ingredient transparency from food producers and, as writers for Nutritional Outlook wrote, “it is crucial that firms know the basics of ingredient identification.” The authors go on to outline recommendations on ingredient standards and testing for manufacturers to follow.
